In August 2001, The Government of Tanzania (GoT) approved the Agricultural Sector Development Strategy (ASDS) which envisages an agricultural sector that, by 2025, is modernized, commercial, highly productive and profitable, and utilizes natural resources in a sustainable manner. The ASDS has identified five strategic issues:

• Strengthening the institutional framework.

• Creating a favorable environment for commercial activities.

• Clarifying public and private sector roles in improving support services.

The mountain farmers operate on whole of animals (flocks, herds, working herds) copying models coming surely from the beginning of domestication. This study documents the plight of the Maasai pastoralists who have moved to Morogoro and Kilosa districts as a result of the recent socio-economic developments and environmental changes in Maasailand. The objective of this study was to analyse how the Maasai migrants have adapted themselves to the new ecological conditions and the impact of such adaptations on their livelihoods.

En "Estructura y dinámica del dominio de Santo Toribio de Liébana (siglos XIII-XVI)" se trata de explicar las características diferenciales que presenta un dominio monástico del área septentrional de la Península Ibérica. En la primera parte, siglo XIII y principios del siglo XIV, se considera que la pobreza material que ostenta el cenobio, observable en el escaso volumen de la renta y en las sucesivas enajenaciones de bienes efectuadas por sectores jerarquizados locales, es el resultado de la dispar consolidación de las estructuras feudales en el espacio.

El sector rural y agropecuario de Guatemala, Honduras y El
Salvador sigue manteniendo diferencias marcadas entre un subsector moderno y muy
tecnificado y otro, más numeroso, con baja eficiencia en el aprovechamiento de
los recursos. Este contraste provoca una incapacidad para cubrir las necesidades
en alimentos de la población, acelera el ritmo de degradación de los recursos
naturales, genera desempleo y eleva los indicadores de pobreza rural.

In the developed countries less than 20 per cent of the population is engaged in agriculture. The rest is employed in the industrial sector. In the underdeveloped countries less than 10 per cent of the population is employed in the industrial sector and the rest is engaged in agriculture. At once this dictates that, for some time to come, the route to development in the latter countries will depend on agriculture, which also mainly depends on land policy and tenure. The land question is a contradiction in land rights and consequential social, economic and political abuses replicated on it.

Se presentan, los avances de la investigacion en relacion a los factores estrategicos del cambio demografico a nivel rural, estableciendo las areas que inciden en el aporte neto de un hijo adicional. Estas areas se integran en 3 categorias de analisis: contexto socio-espacial, insercion en la estructura productiva y area de politicas publicas. Finalmente, se avanza en una tipologia de estructuras agrarias de acuerdo a las caracteristicas de los factores de la estructura agraria vinculados al comportamiento reproductivo.
