    This case study highlights the vulnerability of women in Fiaferana, who are disadvantaged, first, by their gender and indigenous heritage, and second, by their lack of tenure security in the midst of climate change. However, the women of Fiaferana have met these overlapping  challenges head-on through innovative and empowering strategies, including sustainable land use management.

    This report highlights the situation of women in the South-West and Hauts-Bassins of Burkina Faso: from land management to women's access to land, to the management of their income.     The Gambia has one of the fastest urbanization rates in sub-Saharan Africa, with more than two-thirds of the country’s population currently living in the Greater Banjul Area (GBA).

    To address the environmental and socioeconomic challenges that arise from this situation, UNOPS is supporting The Gambia’s government to develop a strategic urban plan, through the Greater Banjul 2040 project. The initiative, will drive urban development and improve services while promoting climate resilience, economic growth and social inclusion.
