L’année 2021 marque l’achèvement de la troisième année complète de mise en oeuvre de l’Initiative pour la restauration (TRI). Malgré les difficultés persistantes liées à la pandémie mondiale de covid-19, 2021 a vu des progrès encourageants. Les exigences de travail à domicile et autres restrictions ayant été levées, les participants aux projets ont pu retourner sur le terrain et mettre en oeuvre les analyses, les recommandations relatives aux stratégies et les plans de restauration et de gestion du paysage élaborés en 2020 pour accélérer les actions de restauration.

However, most people in rural areas in developing countries do not have any form of documentation to protect their land and natural resources rights, which puts their livelihoods and consequently their food and nutrition security are at risk. Secure tenure rights promote responsible investment in agriculture that could increase productivity and enhance food security and nutrition.

Le 11 mai 2017 a marqué le 5ème anniversaire de l’approbation des Directives volontaires pour une gouvernance responsable des terres, des pêches et des forêts dans le contexte de la sécurité alimentaire nationale (DV) par le Comité de la sécurité alimentaire mondial (CSA). Les DV ne sont plus simplement des mots dans un document et leurs principes et processus incitent les personnes du monde entier à agir et à changer leur réalité.

La plupart des habitants des zones rurales des pays en développement ne disposent pourtant d'aucune forme de documentation pour protéger leurs droits à la terre et aux ressources naturelles, ce qui met en péril leurs moyens de subsistance ainsi que leur sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle.

There are numerous global, regional, national and even subnational targets for increasing forest area and forest restoration. In light of these global targets and emerging ambitious national commitments, it is imperative to develop low-cost strategies and techniques for landscape restoration. The most widely used restoration strategies involving planting of tree seedlings are often costly and their application for restoring vast expanses of degraded forest lands in the region may be limited.

Most of the large rice irrigation systems in Southeast Asia have been designed for rice irrigation under a supply-driven mode. Despite their huge contribution to agricultural production, there is a general consensus that these large rice irrigation systems have not lived up to expectations because of a legacy of poor institutional arrangements and system design, degraded infrastructure, poor management and stagnation in the face of rapid transformations of agriculture and pressures on their water supply.
