Increasing women’s access to land is crucial to fight hunger and poverty. However, gender disparities in land access remain significant in most countries, regardless of their level of development. A new FAO database helps to understand the factors that prevent women from accessing land; and to design better policies to effectively address this situation.

The current market driven pressures on natural resources create both challenges and opportunities for communities and governments to use and strengthen communal tenure in order to promote sustainable management of some natural resources.

The aim of this Legislative Decree is to regulate the appropriation of lands and buildings by citizens of the Cooperation Council of Arab Gulf Countries. This Legislative Decree is composed of 8 articles. Article 1 lays down requirements and conditions for appropriation of lands and buildings by citizens of the Cooperation Council of Arab Gulf Countries. Articles 2-6 deal with the following matters: (a) time limit for the registration of lands; (b) transfer of ownership; and, (c) requirements and conditions for economic activities.

LegislaciónBahrein, Asia occidentalThe aim of this Legislative Decree is to regulate the appropriation of land by foreigners. The present Decree is composed of 5 articles. Article 1 allows foreigners to appropriate lands in the Kingdom of Bahrain according to requirements and conditions which should be issued by the Council of Ministries. Article 2 defines the conditions and requirements for the appropriation of lands by foreign juridical persons. Articles 3-5 contain general provisions.

RegulacionesBahrein, Asia occidentalThis Resolution amends article 1 of Resolution No. 43 of 2003 as follows: “allowing non Bahraini citizens, whether physical person or juridical person, to appropriate land and houses in zones A, B and C of the Kingdom as well as to appropriate tourist and investment projects after the approval of the Ministerial Committee for Public Facilities”.
