This market assessment;undertaken in 2015;reviews the constraints faced by smallholder farmers in three sectors (rural land rental;access to finance and agriculture) that limit the positive impact of second level land certification in Tigray and the Southern Nations;Nationalities;and Peoples Region (SNNPR). Furthermore;the assessment provides a list of feasible interventions to catalyse the economic impact of increased tenure security..This resource was published in the frame of the Land Investment for Transformation (LIFT) Programme.

Households are homogeneous in terms of utility and gross income, but each household chooses its residential location on the basis of its place of employment, which is deemed to be fixed. Equilibrium conditions for this residential location market are established. It is shown that there is an equilibrium that is unique (for a closed city with absentee landlords).

In urban areas, infrastructure projects to improve the living environment, such as construction of roads and parks, have been carried out by modifying and abolishing agricultural land. The majority of these projects are land readjustment projects, under which agricultural land is appropriated and replaced with reduced substitute land. The author took up the case of a land readjustment project and the cultivation of pears in Enokido, Yanokuchi, Inagi in order to investigate the effect of such projects, which aim to secure land for public use, on urban agriculture.
