An Act to deal with establishment of funds under the public accounts of India and of each State, credit the monies received from the user agencies towards compensatory afforestation, additional compensatory afforestation, penal compensatory afforestation, net present value and all other amounts recovered from such agencies under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.
This is a judgment of Supreme Court of India to check grabbing of village common land including ponds and water bodies (called in different names) by unscrupulous persons, political clout, powerful vested interests, corrupt state authorities, etc by fraudulent practices and ensure their protection and safeguard.
This Act provides for the preservation of ancient and historical monuments and archaeological sites and remains.The Government will have the power to declare monuments to be protected monuments and to declare archaeological sites and remains to be protected areas. The Director may, with the sanction of the Government, purchase, take lease or assume the guardianship of any protected monument, for its protection or preservation. The Government may also enter into a written agreement with the owner of any protected monument for its maintenance and preservation.

This Act aims at transferring to and vesting in the Government the ownership and possession of all ecologically fragile lands held by any person in order to minimize the degradation of these ecosystems and their biological diversity.The Government shall have the right to declare any land to be ecologically fragile land which shall be deemed to be reserved forests according to the provisions of this Act.The Act provides for the constitution and functions of an Advisory Committee which shall be responsible for identifying ecologically fragile lands which shall then be managed by Forest Depart
