This Act provides with respect to administration of estates left by deceased persons. It concerns, among other things, devolution of property on personal representative, powers of executors, rights and liabilities of administrator and duty of personal representative, procedures for grants of probate and administration, administration of assets, distribution of residuary estate.
This Act provides for the administration of estates of persons that die intestate. When a person dies intestate leaving any real property of whatsoever nature of which the intestate might have disposed of by will, such real property shall for the purposes of ad ministration be deemed to be part of the personal estate of the said intestate and shall be administered accordingly.
This Act vests all land comprised in the territory of each State in the Federation in the Governor of that State and requires that such land shall be held in trust and administered for the use and common benefit of all Nigerians in accordance with the provisions of this Act. In each State a Land Use and Allocation Committee shall be established. Such committee shall be responsible for advising the Governor on land management and resettlement issues. The Governor may declare urban areas and land controlled by the military shall be administered separately.
This Act provides for the re-sealing of probates and letters of administration granted in Commonwealth countries and a State of Nigeria. The Act defines conditions to be fulfilled before re-sealing and effects of re-sealing. The High Court of a State may, if it thinks fit, on the application of any creditor, require, before re-sealing, that adequate security be given for the payment of debts due from the estate to creditors residing in that State.
This Act provides for physical and development planning in Nigeria and for the protection of environment from development. It establishes the Development Control Department and the Urban and Regional Planning Tribunal.
This Act provides for the registration and administration of co-operative societies, duties and privileges of registered societies and rights and liabilities of members, provides for the settlement of disputes between co-operative societies and other institutions or its members, and the division and amalgamation of co-operative societies.The President may appoint the Federal Director of Co-operatives for the registration and control of co-operative Societies.
