Policy makers and practitioners face significant governance challenges that must be addressed in order to achieve the successful long-term sequestration of carbon on forested lands.
The objectives of this paper are to help build a picture of the role of women in China’s agriculture, to assess whether or not agricultural feminization has been occurring, and if so, to measure its impact on productivity. To meet these goals, we rely on three datasets that allow us to explore who is working on China’s farms and the effects of the labor allocation decisions of rural households on productivity. We find that since 2000, the role of women has increased both in the supply of farm labor and in the duties that women take on in the management of farms.
It is widely believed that land tenure insecurity under a customary tenure system leads to socially inefficient resource allocation. This article demonstrates that land tenure insecurity promotes tree planting, which is inefficient from the private point of view but could be relatively efficient from the viewpoint of the global environment. Regression analysis, based on primary data collected in Sumatra, indicates that tenure insecurity in fact leads to early tree planting.
In Rule 8, relative to the issue of landownership registration certificates, a subsection relating to land-ownership certificates, has been added. Such certificates for land in areas prescribed by the Government shall be in the form as set out in the (new) Fifth Schedule. A new section (12A) gives power to the Government of Nepal to make amendments to the Schedules attached to the principal Rules.

This Circular of the Department of Environment, Forests and Wildlife to Forest Secretaries of all States and other territories concerns the involvement of village communities and voluntary agencies for regeneration of degraded forest lands. The National Forest Policy envisages it as one of the essentials of forest management that the forest communities should be motivated to identify themselves with the development and protection of forests from which they derive benefits.
Section 105 is amended with respect to surrender of sublease by a memorandum as set out in the new Schedule XVIIA. Section 109A (new) provides for discharge of land or sublease from further liability, whereas section 114 concerns vesting of land in trustees. The new section 171C confers power upon the Minister to compound any offence under this Ordinance or rules made thereunder, by making an offer to the offending person to compound the offence upon payment.

This Law amends the principal Law by specifying anew all cases in which no land right transfer tax is due, all subjects that are exempt from the same tax, the rates of land right transfer tax, and the method of payment. Tax rates are specified for land used for agriculture, forestry, and aquaculture. Article 14 concerns also the transfer of land use rights for agricultural of forestry production to specified subjects and exchange of land.

This Decree provides for the exemption from the agricultural land use tax in case of land assigned by the State to households and individuals for agricultural development, or belonging to farmer cooperatives whose land has been assigned for agricultural production, or for agricultural and forestry farmers which have been assigned lands for farming, in poor and less favoured areas.
The Circular disciplines the terms for registering and payment for land tenure, mortgages, guarantees, right of use both by domestic households, families/individuals and foreigners. Furthermore, it indicates the Agencies appointed for registering the mortgages and other contracts, their variations and eventual cancellation.
