    These Regulations require any alien desiring to reside upon or to occupy any land, or to reside in or occupy any house that is the property of a Tongan subject, to apply beforehand to the Minister for Lands for a permit.     These Regulations prescribe the form and content of leases and sub-leases of native land requiring the approval of the Minister under section 10 of the Native Lands Ordinance. Every lease shall be prepared in triplicate in the form set out in Schedule 1 to these Regulations. Sub-leases shall be in the form as the Lands Officer may require. The Regulations also set out the procedure of execution and validation of a lease and sub-leases.

    This Code of Laws, made under the Native Land Act, governs native land rights in specified islands of Tuvalu. The Code contains rules relative to land ownership rights and the limitation of such rights by the Land Court. The Code also concerns alienation of rights and the distribution of an estate inter vivos, in case of absentee owner, by will and without a will. Rules also concern exchanges of property, sale of property and use of (village and communal) land.
