   The present Act sets out a series of measures which are designed to respect the acquisition of farmland by non-residents. It contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed such as "acquisition", "agriculture", "public road", "commission", "lot", "farm land". Thereafter the text deals with territorial application, control of the acquisition of farm land, application for registration of the acquisition, penalties and general provisions.

   This Act provides rules for the registration of rights in land in the Seychelles. There shall be a Land Registry and an (appointed) Land Registrar. The Act also concerns the effect of registration, conversion of qualified title into absolute title, co-ownership and partition of land, registration of rights held by foreigners and the form of transfer of various rights in lands. The provisions of this Act shall apply to usufructuary interests in the same manner as they apply to leases.

   An Act on foreign ownership of land and on its registration, it consists of 45 sections and is divided into six Parts. Under section 11, the registrar has to maintain a register called Foreign Ownership of Land Register, the information contained in the register can be accessed by the public upon payment of prescribed fees (sect. 14). Part 3 is dedicated to notification of ownership and of related matters to the registrar. Part 4 is covers offences and penalties and Part 5 contains provisions on forfeiture and restraining orders.

   The present Regulations enact the Canada Petroleum Resources Act. In particular, the Act lays down provisions relating to the administration and registration of interests and instruments in relation to frontier lands and fees to be paid. The text - consisting of 21 sections - deals with the following matters: prescribed royalty, payment of prescribed royalty, certification of an abandonment and restoration, royal trust, certification of qualified frontier exploration expenses, reports and returns, interest, penalties and refunds. Two Schedules are enclosed.

A new reprint of the legislation will be prepared by the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel when any change to the legislation takes effect. This change may be because a provision of the original legislation, or an amendment to it, commences or because a particular provision of the legislation expires or is repealed. This Regulation implements the Foreign Ownership of Land Register Act 1988 by setting the values of the fees prescribed under the Act.

    These Regulations, made under section 5 of the Registrar-General (Recording of Documents) Act 1955: provide rules relative to the form of documents submitted to the Registrar-General for recording or registration; appoint authorized officers for purposes of the Act; and require the metric system to be used for measurements in documents, including survey plans. Forms for the Memorandum of mortgage, Memorandum of acquisition of land from and/or by alien and a Memorandum relative to voluntary conveyances are set out in the Schedule.
