    The 63 sections of the Act are divided into a title provision and 3 Parts: Public Water Supply (I); Jamaica Parishes Water Supply Loans (II); Miscellaneous Provisions (III). Part I is subdivided into the following headings: Construction of Works; Acquisition etc. of Land; Financial; Rates and Charges; Water Supply Accounts; Management; Legal; Offences etc.It shall be lawful for the Parish Council to apply to the Minister responsible for domestic water supplies to authorize construction of waterworks under this Act.

    The Act prescribes that rights over land and water which have been actually enjoyed for a period for not less than 20 years without interruption and which can be lawfully claimed under common law, will be, subject to conditions as established by this Act, be deemed to be "absolute and indefeasible".

    The Ordinance consists of 19 articles that are divided into three Parts: Preliminary (I); Subdivision (II) and Utilization (III). No person may subdivide any land to which this Act applies except in accordance with the provisions contained in the Act. Part III empowers the Minister to make regulations for the better utilization of land regarding, inter alia, the prohibition of land clearing within demarcated catchment areas, measures to prevent soil erosion, restrictions on construction and the demarcation of special development areas.

    The Act provides the framework for Conservation Authorities. The Authorities are bodies corporate for the purposes of establishing and undertaking, within their respective jurisdictions, a program designed to further the conservation, restoration, development and management of natural resources other than gas, oil, coal and minerals (sect. 19). The Authorities are based on watershed boundaries and have the following powers: preparing watershed programmes; data collection; acquiring, leasing and expropriating land; erecting works and structures (sect. 20).

    The Act provides for the conservation and efficient use of of land, forest and water resources in the Province of Alberta. It provides for the establishment of the Conservation and Utilization Committee to inform and recommend measures to the Lieutenant Governor in Council (LGC). Subject to approval by the LGC, the Committee may carry out recommended measures related to the conservation and utilization of irrigable, marginal and submarginal lands, rivers and streams or forestry and game areas.

    This Act applies to agricultural land and establishes the Dominica Land Management Authority and provides for its powers and functions (sects. 3 and 24).     This Act empowers the Minister to declare any land settlement scheme to be a public work under section 3 of the Acquisition of Land for Public Purposes Act. A land settlement scheme is defined as including any project intended to secure land for the establishment of farmers as an organized settlement or for distribution by sale, lease or otherwise to persons individually for agricultural purposes. The Act further provides for (assessment of) compensation, power to acquire land by lease.

    This Act provides for the power of the Minister to declare works as public works and land as land required for public works. The land affected by such a declaration order vests in the State at the expiration of one month after the date of the order.     This Act provides for the establishment and regulation of the Department of Lands. The Act contains provisions on State Lands, Government Lands, Registers and Fees, and miscellaneous and temporary provisions. The Department shall have the charge of and act as a guardian over all State lands and creeks of Guyana, except as comprised within a State forest declared under the Forests Act (sect. 5) and over all Government lands except lands occupied with buildings under the charge of the Public Works Ministry.

    This Act prescribes that title to land may be acquired by sole and undisturbed possession, user or enjoyment for thirty years. Provided that in the case of State land or Government land such title may be acquired by sole and undisturbed possession, user or enjoyment for not less than twelve years (sect. 3). It further contains, inter alia, declaration of title, limitation of actions, accrual of right of action.
