    This Act grants power to the Minister to issue permission to anyone to construct or maintain on public lands any road necessary or useful for mining, woodcutting or other purposes. The Minister may attach to the grant of permission such terms and conditions he or she thinks fit including the right to cut timber on public lands for purposes of road. The grantee of the permission shall be deemed to be the owner of the land occupied by the road for purposes of any enactment being in force relating to wilful trespassing on lands. Other provisions relate to land rights in relation to roads.

    This Act prescribes that it shall be a term or condition of every tenancy of an agricultural holding of a plantation specified in the First Schedule to this Act that a qualified tenant may purchase the freehold of that agricultural holding at a price to be agreed upon between the landlord and tenant. “Agricultural holding” is defined by the Security of Tenure of Small Holdings Act. A qualified tenant is a tenant that has been cultivating the holding for a specified number of years. An option to purchase shall be exercised in the form as set out in the Second Schedule to this Act.

    This Act provides for the control of tenantries, i.e. an area of land, including public land, subdivided before a specified date into lots for letting for specified purposes. Division or sale of a tenantry requires the permission of the Chief Town Planner. The Act also places restrictions on an order of ejectment of tenants to be made on application of an owner or lessee of a tenantry and defines powers of court in an ejectment proceeding.

    This Act regulates the purchase of freeholds in tenantries. A tenantry means a tenantry specified in the First Schedule (a plantation tenantry) and an area of land, including public land, subdivided before a specified date into lots for letting for specified purposes. “Tenantry” does not include land adjoining the foreshore. The purpose of this Act is to establish by law a right for tenants of lots in tenantries who satisfy the requirements of this Act to purchase the freehold at a purchase price governed by considerations of public policy and the requirements of the Constitution.

The Minister may design tenantries for purposes of this Act, but only if there are not sufficient on the tenantry including water supply and sewage disposal. The Act sets out the procedure for the approval of development requests.

    This Act requires tenancies for residential or business purposes to be registered with the Commissioner of Inland Revenue. The Act also defines certain duties of a landlord and defines certain actions of the landlord in the relationship with the tenant as an offence.

    This Act makes provision in relation to the sale of land ordered to be sold by the High Court and related matters such as valuation of land by appointed appraisers. Procedures of sale shall be handled by the Registrar of Titles. When any land ordered to be sold by the High Court remains unsold for one year, then the holder of any lien against the land or any person entitled to any estate, right or interest in such land or the holder of a specified registered debt certificate may apply to the Registrar requiring the sale of the land at public auction.
