More than 40 organisations collaborated in this global research project through
case studies, thematic studies, and regional overviews,
from which the content and analysis of this report are
drawn. Several organisations, in particular SWAC, Oxfam
and RRI, contributed significantly out of their own

writing workshop in November 2010 with co-authors

This is a Māori/Ngati Porou-led PES scheme that makes use of government afforestation subsidies and foreign direct investment to enable one of the tribe’s commercial bodies, Ngāti Porou Whanui Forests Limited (NPWFL) to become a provider of environmental services by undertaking afforestation activities to mitigate severe soil erosion and its negative effects on the Ngāti Porou community.

Tokelau joined the Organization as an Associate Member in 2011. Over the past few years, FAO assistance to the Pacific Island Territory has contributed to the sustainable management of natural resources and food security. Interventions have focused on inshore fisheries as well as coastal and village land-use planning and efforts to increase household food production.
