   This basic enactment of the Palestinian Legislative creates a framework for the protection of the environment, public health and biodiversity in Palestine including marine areas. Its 82 sections are divided into 5 Titles: Definitions and general provisions (I); Environmental protection (II); Environmental impact assessment, licensing, inspection and administrative procedure (III); Penalties (IV); Final provisions (V). Article 1 contains an extensive list of definitions, including "natural reserves" and "international waters". Objectives of this Law are set out in article 2.

   The present National Environment Strategy for Jordan is a Resource Book of Information and Guidelines for Action and is based on Jordan’s pledge to maintain environmental protection as a national priority to preserve the earth, wind and water as a symbol of the bond between the legacy of ancestors, contemporary responsibilities and capabilities, and the promise for future generations.

   This Resolution consisting of 89 articles divided in X Chapters aims at defining the obligations and requirements to be followed to maintain the internal and external environment free from pollution. Chapter I deals with the studies of environmental impact aiming at confining the negative impacts during the various stages of the project.

   This Law is aimed at: protecting the coastal environment, restoring and preserving coasts as a resource of unique value, and preventing and reducing as much as possible any damage to them; preserving the coastal environment and the coastal sand for the benefit and enjoyment of the public, for present and future generations; and establishing principles and limitations for the sustainable management, development and use of the coastal environment. Under the law, sea and shore are considered one integral unit that extends from Israel's territorial waters to 300 meters inland.
