This Regulation implements the Vegetation Management Act 1999. It provides for the identification of prescribed regional ecosystems, which are listed in the annexed schedules. It specifies the matters prescribed for property vegetation management plans and sets the value of the development application fee. The Regulation is completed by seven schedules: endangered regional ecosystems, of concern regional ecosystems, least concern regional ecosystems, grassland regional ecosystems, trees precribed for the Act and fees.

This Regulation, consisting of 17 sections divided into five Parts, implements the Land Protection (Pest and Stock Route Management) Act 2002. Part 2 specifies which pests can be declared pests under the Act and approves the location of building lines for fences. Part 3 concerns stock routes and their management. Part 4 establishes the pest operational board for rabbits and defines its operational area. Part 5 contains miscellaneous provisions, among others on inspection and fees.
