The objective of the Planning Regulation 2017 is to prescribe instruments and address matters provided for under the Planning Act 2016, and provide the mechanics for the operation and implementation of the Act.
This Act, consisting of 52 sections divided into ten Parts, provides for the internal rules of the Land Court. It is divided as follows: preliminary (Part 1), starting proceedings (Part 2), ending proceeding early (Part 3), court supervision (Part 4), evidence (Part 5), jurisdiction of judicial registrar (Part 6), hearing proceedings (Part 7), orders (Part 8), appeals to the Land Appeal Court (Part 9) and miscellaneous (Part 10).

This regulation implements the Community Services (Torres Strait) Act 1984. It consists of 68 sections and is divided into 12 Parts. Part 2 is dedicated to the Island councils, their composition and their membership, Part 3 to the chairpersons of Island councils and Part 4 to the election of Island councils. Part 5 concerns councils’ meetings, Part 8 regulates Island courts and Part 9 the Island Coordinating Council. The regulation is completed by five schedules that provide further for the operation of the bodies regulated in the text.
This Regulation provides for the implementation of the Aboriginal Land Act 1991. The Regulation is divided into 8 Parts (56 regulations) and is completed by 5 Schedules. Part 2 sets out provisions on land trusts and Part 3 provides codes of conduct about mining leases. Part 4 prescribes mining royalties and Part 5 regulates appeals to the Land Appeal Court. The remaining Parts address declarations, provisions of miscellaneous nature, and transitional provisions.
