    Recognizing the critical environmental and economic challenge of climate change that is facing the global community, the purpose of this Act is to create a regulatory scheme, a) to reduce greenhouse gas in order to respond to climate change, to protect the environment and to assist Ontarians to transition to a low-carbon economy; and b) to enable Ontario to collaborate and coordinate its actions with similar actions in other jurisdictions in order to ensure the efficacy of its regulatory scheme in the context of a broader international effort to respond to climate change.

    Considering that the Constitution of Canada recognizes the existing rights of the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada since they have a long and rich history in Yukon and have made, and continue to make, important contributions to Yukon, it is considered appropriate that there be a day to mark and celebrate these contributions and to recognize the different cultures of the Aboriginal Peoples of Yukon and Canada. In particular, the 21 June of each year shall be known as “National Aboriginal Day” and shall be observed as a holiday. The text consists of 3 sections.

    This new Provincial Lands Act aims to modernize the legislative framework and provide better environmental. In particular, the Act provides for better protection for Crown land by investing the government with the ability to respond and take action when land is being misused, such as issuing immediate stop work orders. Furthermore, the framework for the Ministry of Agriculture Crown leases shall be used as security; and the time period of certain long-term leases where significant investments are possible, such as wind power development shall be increased.

    The present Order is made under the Territorial Lands Act. In particular, the purpose of this Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands in order to facilitate the conclusion of Aboriginal land agreements. In particular, section 2 establishes that the tracts of territorial lands set out in the Schedule, including the surface and subsurface rights to the lands, are withdrawn from disposal for a period of three years beginning on the day on which this Order is made. Section 2 establishes that the present Regulation applies in respect of the following plans: a) an air space plan; b) a condominium plan; c) an explanatory plan; d) a plan of subdivision; e) a sketch; f) a compiled plan; and g) any other plan of survey.
