   FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and other development partners are working together with countries to prepare Voluntary Guidelines that will provide practical guidance to states, civil society, the private sector, donors and development specialists on the responsible governance of tenure. By setting out principles and internationally accepted standards for responsible practices, the Voluntary Guidelines will provide a framework and point of reference that stakeholders can use when developing their own policies and actions.

   Land administration and cadastral systems are playing a crucial global role in safeguarding the security of access to land and natural resources. Information technology systems have become basic elements of these systems everywhere. Introduction of automation to land administration has improved systems’ efficiency, standardisation and accessibility, which in turn have contributed to responsible land governance. Developing country land administrations are, however, often inefficient and poorly structured.

   This Act, consisting of 274 Sections divided into eight Parts and completed by eight Schedules, regulates the property Land Law in the territory of Victoria. The Act includes also provisions on registration, dispute settlement, insurances and public auctions.    The main purposes of this Act, consisting of 32 Sections divided into seven Parts and completed by 13 Schedules, are the following: to revoke reservations over various parcels of land; to revoke Crown grants and a Certificate of Title in relation to some of that land; to repeal the Burrumbeet (Russell Reserve) Land Act 1982; to provide for the revocation of part of the reservation of land at Albert Park and the re-reservation of that land; to provide for entry on and use of reserved land at Argyle Square for the construction and on-going use of a car park beneath that land.

   An Act on foreign ownership of land and on its registration, it consists of 45 sections and is divided into six Parts. Under section 11, the registrar has to maintain a register called Foreign Ownership of Land Register, the information contained in the register can be accessed by the public upon payment of prescribed fees (sect. 14). Part 3 is dedicated to notification of ownership and of related matters to the registrar. Part 4 is covers offences and penalties and Part 5 contains provisions on forfeiture and restraining orders.

   This Act concerns the title of native people, Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders, to land in Queensland. It consists of 146 sections and is divided into five Parts. Part 2 is dedicated to validation and its effects, Part 3 concerns the confirmation of certain rights, in particular the ownership of certain natural resources and certain water and fishing access rights and public access to and enjoyment of beaches and certain other places.

    This Act, consisting of 110 Sections divided into twelve Parts and completed by one Schedule, regulates land acquisition for public purposes and related procedures, up to registration. The Act also covers compensation and the methods for the payment of compensation and interests on compensation. The Act also provides for the resolution of disputes related to land acquisition and compensation.
