The Government of New Zealand has developed this Biodiversity Strategy to fulfill the commitments made under the Convention of Biological Diversity. The purpose of this nation-wide sectoral document is to establish a strategic framework for action to conserve, use and manage the indigenous biodiversity.

Water, an essential component of life supporting systems, is at the forefront of discussions on global sustainability and food security. Water also has a major role in poverty alleviation and local food security. The technology for a more effective use of the resource is known but institutional reforms needed to lead the world in a positive direction are proving difficult to establish. This study was commissioned to suscitate constructive discussion around many sensitive aspects of water policy.

Because of this, governments often attempt to promote rural development through the development of natural resources such as forests. This paper will attempt to describe some of the challenges of using forest resources for rural development in developing countries.

It also compares changes in livestock, fisheries and forestry production, agricultural trade and nutritional availability and intake for this period.

It is the result of the collective efforts of the countries of the world. This major undertaking was based primarily on information provided by the countries, supplemented by state-of-the-art technology to verify and analyse the information and to make the results accessible to the world through the Internet. The FRA 2000 process emphasized collaboration and transparency.
