Land is an essential asset for the livelihood and welfare of rural households in agriculture-based rural economies. This study utilizes land registry data from the First and Second Stage Land Registration (FSLR and SSLR) Reforms that took place in 1998 and 2016 in Tigray region of Ethiopia, the first region in Ethiopia to implement land registration and certification. Second Stage Land Registration and Certification (SSLR&C) provided households with parcel-based certificates with names of all holders.

A Webinar Report
Informes e investigacionesNoviembre, 2020África australThe spread of COVID-19 in South Africa and other countries in the region has again brought to the fore the fact that very dense, under-serviced, mostly informal, settlements are not healthy places to live. Volume 9 Issue 5
Publicación revisada por paresMayo, 2020GlobalThis paper reviews the scholarly literature discussing the effect(s) of land registration on the relations between land tenure security and agricultural productivity. Using 85 studies, the paper focuses on the regular claim that land registration’s facilitation of formal documents-based land dealings leads to investment in a more productive agriculture. The paper shows that this claim is problematic for three reasons. First, most studies offer no empirical evidence to support the claim on the above-mentioned effect.

Cadastral maps can be used as an effective initial set of data for new street maps in particular, and any type of large scale map project in general. This is due to a) a high degree of currency and accuracy of the digital cadastral database (DCDB); b) DCDB’s overall high level of reliability in terms of completeness; and c) the availability of DCDB to the public. It is within the context of these three notable features that the Australian and Bruneian experiences with DCDB are examined.
