This Act concerns the management of coastal areas in the State of Victoria to protect and maintain areas of environmental significance on the coast and to maintain and improve coastal water quality. It provides for the establishment and operation of the Victorian Coastal Council and of Regional Coastal Boards. It also promotes a coordinated approach in the preparation and implementation of management plans for coastal Crown lands.
This Act, consisting of seven Parts, provides for the reservation of certain Crown lands and their management. Reserved lands are managed by committees of management whose functions and powers are defined in Part 3. Part 4 contains special provisions on certain reserved lands: land used for horse or greyhound racing, landing grounds, marinas, sport facilities and activities and mineral springs. Part 6 contains provisions relating to particular Crown land reserves.
Under the Act, “settlement” includes “an instrument or instruments which under this Act or the corresponding previous enactments is or are deemed to be or which together constitute a settlement, and a settlement which is deemed to have been made by any person or to be subsisting for the purposes of this Act”, what constitutes a settlement is defined under section 8. The Act defines the rights and powers of tenants for life (sects. 12-29 and Part II), including mining and building leases, provides for the procedure for the settlement of disputes (sects.
This Act consisting of 66 sections divided into eight Parts and completed by one Schedule, provides for the registration of land boundary surveyors and for the regulation of the practice of land boundary surveying.
This Act consolidates and reforms the law about the registration of land and interests in land. It consists of 220 sections and is divided into 14 Parts and completed by two Schedules. Under Part 2, the Registrar-General is required to keep a land register and has the power to hold inquiries and to demand fees. The Act provides for the establishment of the Coast Protection Board, defines its functions and powers and regulates its operation.
