This Act makes provision with respect to the procedure of escheat of property, i.e. the appropriation of any casual revenues arising within the Colonies or Foreign Possessions of the Crown (other than Droits of the Crown and Droits of the Admiralty) for or towards any public purposes within the Colonies or Possessions in which the same respectively may have arisen, including the revenue to arise from the estates and effects of persons who have died intestate and without heirs or next of kin.

This Act makes provision for the administration of estates in Belize of deceased foreign persons. It assigns powers to representatives of specified countries of origin of the deceased person to administer the estate if there is no person present in Belize at the time of death who is rightfully entitled to administer the estate of such deceased person. Nothing contained in this Act shall affect the Crown’s right under the Administration of Estates Act. The representative shall apply for letters of administration to be issued by court.

Notably, it states that prospective spouses may, by agreement, select a proprietary relationship from among the types of proprietary relations set out in the Act before the contraction of marriage by an application for marriage. In Afghanistan, insecurity over land and water rights hampers investments in food production and irrigation. In rural areas, customary tenure systems, partly based on religious law, are the most relevant but suffer from weak recognition and offer little protection to rights holders. The land policy reform is on-going but remains slow. Moreover, land administration capacity is weak and improvements mostly take place in urban areas. In Kenya, insecure land tenure and inequitable access to land and natural resources have contributed to conflict and violence, which has in return exacerbated food insecurity. Most farmers in Kenya have no legal title for the land on which they farm. Sources of tenure insecurity can be ethnic conflicts over land between neighbouring communities, particularly in the Northern provinces, expropriation by the state or local government and land grabbing by local elite or companies. Competition is as well growing over water, especially over groundwater, which is scarce in Kenya.
