The National Strategy and Action Plan for Gender and Private Sector is a national strategy with a sectoral approach. The timeframe of the Strategy is four years from 2014 to 2017. The overall objective is to overcome disparities among men and women in the private sector, giving particular regard to access of women to entrepreneurship, including the rural sector.
This Act provides with respect to the administration, structure, operations, powers, responsibilities and (additional) functions of the National Land Commission established by Article 67 of the Constitution and for certain aspects of management and administration of land in accordance with the principles of land policy set out in Article 60 of the Constitution and the national land policy.

The Commission for Gender Equality presented on its proposed campaign called One Woman, One Hectare of Land’. The campaign aims to mainstream gender equality, for it was proposed that the State should allocate one hectare of land, for the growing of food, to the poorest rural female-run households. It was believed that this would help alleviate poverty and empower rural women. It was pointed out that where women had land, their families generally were better nourished, better educated and able to move on.
