The Land Portal Foundation and the NRMC Center for Land Governance are partnering with key organizations to hold a series of three webinars on Forest Rights and Governance in India, Land Rights for Slum Dwellers in the East Indian State Odisha: Making technology work for the urban poor and Women Inheriting Land: Rights and Realities, leading up to the third annual India Land and Development Conference (ILDC), which will take place from 12-14 March, 2019.
Availability of accurate and up to date data and information on land rights, tenures and administration as well as on different land use, such as agriculture, forestry, mining, wildlife, water, housing and infrastructure, is critical to effective land governance and crucial for planning and managing the use of land and land-based resources. However, it is an often-repeated rhetoric that there is a lack of land data - whether it is lack of reliable or up-to-date data or a lack in the existence of any data.
Conference Theme: Partnership for enhanced Inclusion and Impact
The India Land and Development Conference has become a unique annual inclusive Land Convergence platform in India. Established by a collaborative initiative of local and global land-institutions, it promotes inter-sectoral, inter-disciplinary and multi-level conversations on land and development. ILDC helps researchers, practitioners, governments, businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals working around and at interface of land in different geographies, across scales around diverse issues to come together and interact at an open and inclusive platform. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to announce 3rd India Land and Development Conference (ILDC). The 2nd ILDC organized on February 19-21, 2018, saw active participation of more than 300 individuals and was partnered by 36 diverse institutions working around land in India and abroad. The 3-days event witnessed inclusive conversation over 16 thematic sessions, and 4 interesting master classes, apart from a session on South Asia.
ILDC2019 will focus on how a partnership among land actors can make land tenure security and governance more inclusive and impact development and environment more sustainably. It will provide a convergence platform for the land stakeholders from Government, CSO, Academia, private sectors, entrepreneurs, media, international institutions to have inclusive, innovative and changed conversations as well as to build networks around land and development in India and South Asia. Proposal for papers, posters, displays, and sessions are invited from practitioners, researchers, entrepreneurs, CSOs, private sectors, donors and other land actors from India and abroad, on research, experiences, opinions, innovations, technologies related to land governance in Indian/ South Asian/Global Context.
