The goal of the project was to enhance the food security of subsistence farmers, raise family incomes and improve the living conditions and development participation of 26,000 small farm households in Dhamar governorate. To that end, the project intended to empower communities, including women; remove critical physical, infrastructural and social constraints to productivity and advancement; and equip and support farm households to increase their output, thereby enabling them to secure basic food supplies, produce marketable surpluses and pursue income-generating activities.
With regard to land and natural resource governance, the project intended to rehabilitate grazing lands through a participatory process; it supported irrigation development through the establishment of WUAs.
