The aim of the project was to improve the livelihoods and develop broader alternatives for income-generating activities to help 72,000 households, in 1,730 vulnerable villages, in the remote districts in the states of Meghalaya and Uttaranchal of the Himalayas. This included linking target households to credit, markets and to extension, business development and technical services.
On the land and natural resource governance, the project supported the establishment of a Land Bank Committee, formed for each village, with the intent to ensure security of access to productive assets and build the capacity of village level institutions in land management.
