The dispersion has given rise to a different mode of city production. Throughout history, urban planning has sought to act on several occasions about the growth of the city and the preservation of green space. In the present work aims to identify the tools that provide the Greater London Plan and the Holland Notes to finish the city while preserving the rural space. The study shows in both cases, the State has exercised control over the urban planning, land use and connectivity of urban centers across transport networks.
El conflicto armado interno en Colombia se caracteriza por la generación de más de tres millones de desplazados internos, con consecuencias dramáticas desde el punto de vista humanitario y desde la óptica de la protección de sus derechos. The scope of this article is to observe the complexity of the relations between Rome’s University Campus of Tor Vergata and its discursive universe, from the former abusive districts to the re-qualified images of the suburbs of the 8th City Hall, raised to the rank of Centralities in the New Regulatory Plan of Rome.
We propose a methodology for the evaluation of urban walkability, and the related software tool for decision and planning support. In the introduction, we discuss the relevance of the concept of walkability for urban quality of life, and attempt to place it within the framework of the capability approach. The central part of the article is dedicated to the presentation of the spatial multi-criteria evaluation model for walkability.
Ill advised, uncoordinated, and badly planned interventions have been blamed for continuing poverty and food insecurity in rangelands. Water interventions in particular have had negative impacts. Not only have these interventions failed to improve the livelihoods of people living there, but in many cases they have served to undermine them and the environment on which they depend. Rangeland development interventions have been sectoral in their approach.
These guidelines introduce and promote the essential elements of participatory rangeland management (PRM). Based upon the successful experiences of participatory forest management, the guidelines provide a process following three stages of investigation, negotiation and implementation. The sequential steps of this process lead to the development of a rangeland management plan and a legally binding rangeland management agreement between a local rangeland management institution and the appropriate local government office.
