The laws in the Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic provide limited protection to indigenous peoples and local communities regarding access to land and forest resources. Often, logging concessions overlap their territories, restricting access to lands and resources. However, the development of community forests is gaining momentum in the region. These can help secure customary tenure, sustainably manage resources and improve livelihoods for indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs).

An agreement between the Zimbabwean Government and the Commercial Farmers Union on compensation for land taken from white farmers was finally agreed on 29 July 2020;20 years after the land reform programme began. There had been previous attempts;but the science of asset valuation is far from exact. The issue had blocked international recognition of the Zimbabwean Government. Looks at the detractors and sceptics and asks how the agreed sum of US$3.5 billion will be paid for. Believes this is an immensely important step in a long-running and frustrating saga.

One of the objectives that comprise LDN is to reinforce responsible governance of land tenure. Land rights are a key factor for achieving LDN. textabstractIn this paper we discuss forestry issues related to land reform in Bolivia. We find that although the current land reform satisfies most of the conditions that are necessary for adequately addressing development issues in the agrarian sector, it does not deal with many of the challenges related to forest management and actually contains provisions that come in conflict with the objectives of sustainable forest management.

The approval of the 2004 Forest protection and Development Law was a milestone which marked the legal recognition of community forestry in Viet Nam. Yet, general understanding of community forests as only the area legally allocated to village communities has undervalued the role of community forestry. To address this issue, it is recommended that community forestry needs to be clearly defined in the forestry legal framework to include forest areas allocated to individual households, particularly natural forest areas where collective forms of forest management are being practiced.
