La présente loi est composée de 84 articles repartis en onze (11) titres. Ce texte prévoit la mise en valeur des forêts (Titre II) et les défrichements des forêts: organisation, et lieux des défrichements (Titre III).
La protection et la restauration des écosystèmes de mangroves constituent une préoccupation majeure et permanente à travers le monde. La faiblesse des administrations locales et des niveaux de revenus des populations riveraines, accélèrent la dégradation de ces écosystèmes. Les espèces de bois généralement utilisés dans ces écosystèmes de mangroves permettent de satisfaire les besoins des populations locales.
Over the past decades, progress towards Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) in Africa has been made at national and subregionallevels. At national level, 43 African countries have developed specific forest law and 40 have a national forest policy. At subregionallevel, efforts to harmonize policies and programmeshave resulted in the development of the Convergence Plan of the Central African Forests Commission and the Convergence Plan for the Sustainable Management and Use of Forest Ecosystems in West Africa.

Land and forest tenure systems greatly influence a country’s ability to reduce deforestation and forest degradation. Clear and legitimate tenure rights over forests can provide an incentive to manage forests sustainably and simultaneously reduce deforestation and forest degradation. In fact, communities and stakeholders with secure tenure rights have a strong interest in investing time and resources to maintain and enhance the natural capital under a long-term vision.
In this 2012 edition of Moving Forward, FAO Forestry is pleased to present a selection of the work it undertook in the 2010-2011 biennium for the benefit of the global forestry community. The FAO Forestry Programme encompasses a vast range of activities and projects, of which this booklet presents only a sample. In all regions of the world, the Programme is helping to implement sustainable forest management and boost the livelihoods of forest-dependent people. It does this, in part, by improving information on forests.
