    FAO is committed to reducing gender inequalities through its interventions, and this gender assessment has been produced as part of its broader efforts to generate evidence and knowledge in compliance with its Policy on Gender Equality. This assessment highlights the challenges, gaps and practices in the area of gender and agriculture and rural development in Georgia that need to be considered by policy-makers and project managers in their decision-making and their implementation of development interventions. The main gender inequalities in Georgia are reiterated in this assessment.

    This assessment reviews ADB’s experiences in implementing gender mainstreaming in its portfolio in recent years. The assessment method has two main components. The first is a review of the status of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the country, based on a literature review, key statistics, policy documents, and key informant interviews. The second analyzes the achievements and challenges in mainstreaming gender equality in ADB’s programs and operations, and recommends the way forward to improve outcomes.

    In this paper, we explore how different norms around property rights affect the empowerment of women of different social positions over the life cycle. We first review the conceptual foundations of property, empowerment, and intersectionality, and then present the methodology and empirical findings from ethnographic field work in Nepal. Going beyond formal ownership of property, we look at changes in property rights over personal and joint property at different stages of women’s lives.

    This is a brief description of a course organized by the Regional Government of San Martín in Peru and ProTierras Comunales and implemented in coordination with the regional and local indigenous organisations in 2018.  ProTierras Comunales is part of the Global Project “Responsible Land Policy”, implemented since late 2015 by German development cooperation in six countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to promote the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests (VGGT, 2012).

    This study deals with the women’s right to land ownership. Economic Transformation Initiative, Gilgit-Baltistan (ETI-GB), an ambitious program supported by International Fund for Agricultural Development United Nation (IFAD, UN), aims to reduced poverty and increase income through agricultural development. Strengthen land reforms through land development is one of the core component in the program. This is a pioneer project undergoing in the region. It has been anticipated that this project is a significant development when it comes to land reforms and land policies in GB.

    The webinar An introduction to Prindex took place on 28 November, 2018. This webinar presented a basic understanding of how Prindex works. The Prindex team presented results of data collected from 15 countries. It focused on pathways for using Prindex to propel policy conversations and movement-building for policy reform with the help of panellists from some of the countries where data was collected.
