    This Act makes provision with respect to intestate succession and succession by will of estates including land and land-related rights. The Act sets out rules relative to inheritance and related distribution of estates in the case a person dies without having made a will. The Act also defines offences against persons entitled to inheritance or related to the deceased person.

    This Act establishes the Bumbuna Watershed Management Authority and constitutes the Bumbuna Conservation Area.The object for which the Authority is established is to promote sustainable land use practices and environmental management in the Bumbuna Watershed, to protect the flora and fauna in the Bumbuna Conservation Area and to protect the Bumbuna reservoir.The Authority shall be a body corporate and be managed by a Board.

    This Act makes provision with respect to agreements for the purposes of lending money and related matters such as debt recovery. A “credit agreement” means an agreement in the nature of a credit facility, a credit transaction, a secured credit guarantee, any combination of these or any other agreement that relates to a transaction, regardless of its form that creates a security interest in movable property to secure all types of obligations, present or future, determined or determinable.

    This Ordinance makes provision with respect to the compulsory acquisition of lands for public purposes and compensation for such acquisition to the landowner. It sets out the procedure for such acquisition and subsequent registration of land. The Governor may be required to purchase the rest of a piece of land if only a part was acquired and the rest is rendered useless to the owner. It shall be lawful for the Minister to resell any land purchased under this rule. The Ordinance also makes provision for resolution of disputed regarding compensation, etc.

    This Ordinance makes provision with respect to the vesting in the Crown, development or alienation of reclaimed lands on the foreshore of Sierra Leone. Reclaimed lands are lands that were formerly part of the sea.

    This Act makes provision with respect to the procedure of escheat of property, i.e. the appropriation of any casual revenues arising within the Colonies or Foreign Possessions of the Crown (other than Droits of the Crown and Droits of the Admiralty) for or towards any public purposes within the Colonies or Possessions in which the same respectively may have arisen, including the revenue to arise from the estates and effects of persons who have died intestate and without heirs or next of kin.

    This Act amends the Crown Lands Act by repealing sections 12, 13, 20, and 28. Those sections concern implied covenants for a grant of Crown land and/or for every building lease, revision of rent, and return of land to the Crown if the grantee does not seem to make use of the land.

    This Act amends the Crown Lands Act by repealing section 3, 9, 17 and 19 and by amending section 4, which now reads: "The Minister may make grants of Crown Lands in such manner and subject to such conditions as may be required and as he may deem proper". The effect of the amendments is that now the Minister decides on granting of Crown land. Other repealed sections concern survey of land and resumption of lands by the State for the purposes of construction of public works.

    This Ordinance makes provision with respect to sale, lease or otherwise disposal of lands which belong to the Crown. Subject to the provisions of this Ordinance, the Governor on behalf of the Crown may make grants of Crown lands in such manner and subject to such conditions as may be required and as he or she may deem proper. Every grant shall be executed by the Minister or a public officer authorized by him in that he be expressed to be made in conformity with the provisions of this Ordinance.

    This Act continues in existence the Guma Valley Water Company, defines its functions and powers and provides with respect to its administration and operations. The Company shall be governed by a Board, which may make Regulations as are necessary for the implementation of this Act. The Company shall produce, distribute and conserve water within the limits of supply and other areas as may be determined by the National Commission for Privatization.
