    The purposes of the present Act are to enable the Sechelt Indian Band to establish and maintain self-government for itself and its members on Sechelt lands and to obtain control over and the administration of the resources and services available to its members. Section 5 establishes that the Sechelt Indian Band is hereby established to replace the Indian Act Sechelt Band.

    The present Act is a piece of companion legislation to the Federal Sechelt Indian Band Self-Government Act and provides for provincial recognition of the Sechelt Indian Government District. The ministry is responsible for section 4, which makes the district eligible for municipal benefits. The rest of the Act is the responsibility of the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation. The text consists of 8 sections.

    The present Regulation is made under the Land Surveyors Act. For the purpose of this Regulation, unless otherwise indicated by the context, “immovable property” means an immovable such as a parcel of land with or without a building, superficies, an immovable held in divided co-ownership or a private portion of an immovable held in divided co-ownership.

    The present Regulations provide for the enactment of the Land Surveys Act. In particular, the Regulations apply to all lands in Saskatchewan: a) that are located in an area of Saskatchewan that the Lieutenant Governor in Council has designated pursuant to section 87 of the Act as an area to which the Act applies; and b) that are within the legislative competence of the Legislature.

    The present Act sets out a series of measures which are designed to respect the acquisition of farmland by non-residents. It contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed such as "acquisition", "agriculture", "public road", "commission", "lot", "farm land". Thereafter the text deals with territorial application, control of the acquisition of farm land, application for registration of the acquisition, penalties and general provisions.

    The present Agreement between the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada establishes – after 21 years of negotiations - the self-governance and self-determination of the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation. The Agreement establishes a government-to-government relationship between Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and Canada. Once put into effect, this self-government Agreement will provide Sioux Valley Dakota Nation with greater control over the decisions that affect its community members.

The text consists of 2 sections and 1 Schedule.
