El presente Acuerdo, considerando que circunstancias de diferente índole propias de ese sector amazónico, establece la necesidad de una nueva determinación y delimitación del Parque Nacional Yasuní (PNY), con la finalidad de respetar los asentamientos de comunidades aborígenes y proporcionando protección a zonas que no gozan de ese beneficio.

<p>The trend of increasing agricultural output in recent decades has been noted. To some extent this increase has been due to a myopic view on growth and development that involved an unabated exploitation of land and water resources with intensive use of complex technology. In this process, for the past few decades, man has influenced the natural state of the environment in order to create an ideal environmental condition for producing biomass and energy at a rate that surpassed all previous limits. Ibis remarkable achievement was, however, at the expense of a greater social cost.
The project was first conceived as a “Transnational project on the Management of Major Regional Aquifer in N.E. Africa” during the UNCOD held in Nairobi in 1977 and that it had been taken up by ADALCO in 1987. He pointed out that the sandstone aquifer occupying an area of about 2,000,0000 sq. km underlines the common border areas of Sudan, Egypt, Libya and Chad. Environmentally, it was observed that the zone has a relief characterized by a vast sandy plan, which is occasionally interrupted by scattered flat topped Nubaian plateaux and escarpments.
