    ‘A Guide on Land and Property Rights in Pakistan’ was designed and prepared to facilitate the basic understanding of the complex principles of the Pakistani land and revenue administration system. The first edition, printed in December 2011, was warmly received by lawyers, national civil society organisations, community leaders, local authorities, donor agencies, and international affairs organisations, engaged in relief, rehabilitation, development or other similar works that necessitate some basic understanding of the land administration system in Pakistan.

    This Agriculture and Rural Development Sector Strategy is a sectoral national strategy of Afghanistan. It applies to the period of 2008-2013. The central objective of the document is to ensure the social, economic and political well-being of rural communities, especially poor and vulnerable people, whilst stimulating the integration of rural communities within the national economy.The Strategy directly addresses food security issues, including food aid and nutrition issues. In doing so, it also treats the issues in a perspective of the vulnerable population of the country.

    4.1 The Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS) will guide the agricultural sector of Nepal over the next 20 years. The structure of the agricultural sector is expected to change considerably with agribusiness to grow faster. Strong linkages between agriculture and other sectors in the economy will be critical to the reduction of poverty particularly in rural areas where the development of non-farm activities based on agriculture will be fundamental for the growth of an overall robust economy, a more balanced rural economy, and employment generation.

    Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. It employs 45% of the labor force, contributes 21.4% to the gross domestic product and provides food to more than 180 million people of the country. The required plethoric resources to produce food correspondingly protect the population against food insecurity. This study explores the distribution of land resources, their ranking and relationships with food security in all districts of Punjab province of Pakistan. The Gini Coefficient and multiple linear regression were employed.

    The Act, consisting of 19 articles, amends some Nepal Acts in order to maintain gender equality having made timely amendment to the discriminatory provisions between women and men in the prevailing Nepal laws. It specifies that: Article 2 [5] states that “the unmarried girl, married women or a widow living separately may enjoy the movable and immovable property on her own” (22). Labour Act, 1992: - Section 5 [3]: “Women may be employed like men after making appropriate arrangements on the basis of mutual agreements between the general manager and the employees or workers in question”.

    Last 25-26 October 2010, the Association for Land Reform and Rural Development (ALRD), the Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ANGOC) and the International Land Coalition (ILC) jointly organised this Regional Workshop on Women and Land Rights, as a response to the urgent need to cast the spotlight on women and their access to and ownership of land. The objectives of the workshop were identifying strategic areas and developing a road map for 2011-2012, to strengthen ILC Asia’s work on women’s land rights.
