    This Act regulates the (grant of) administration of real and personal estates of deceased persons. The Act also places restrictions on the disposal of such estates and provides for registration of documents and the handling of claims. An interest in property which cannot by law be disposed of by testamentary disposition is not property for the purpose of this Act. The President shall appoint a suitable person to be the Administrator-General for the purposes of this Act. Administration of intestate estates may be granted by the court to the Administrator-General.

    This Act provides for the administration of Stool and other lands. It is divided into 2 Parts: Administration (I) (Stool land, Kumasi town lands, Lands generally, Revenues); Miscellaneous (II). Stool lands are defined as including land controlled by any person for the benefit of the subjects or members of a Stool clan, company or community, and all land in the Upper and Northern Regions other than land vested in the President and accordingly "Stool" means the person exercising such control (sect. 31).

    This Act makes provision for local government in Ghana and the promotion, conservation and development of customary law.There shall be a National House of Chiefs, which shall be instrumental in the development and conservation of law relative to chieftaincy and customary law. There shall also be Regional Houses of Chiefs which shall have functions of dispute resolution and compilation of customary law. Each traditional area shall have a Traditional Council and may have more than one Divisional Council.

    This Act concerns concession granted on stool lands to which the Administration of Lands Act, 1962, applies. Such concessions shall continue in force according to the terms of the concession, provided that: (a) such terms may be varied by agreement between the parties to the concession, subject to written consent of the Minister and (b) roads on land specified in the concession shall be open for all persons authorised by the Minister (sect. 2).

    This Act establishes the Confiscated Assets (Recovery and Disposal) Committee and provides for other matters relative to the Committee.The Committee shall, subject to directions of the President, locate and take inventory of assets and properties confiscated to the State by the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council; make recommendations to the President as to the disposal of such confiscated assets and properties confiscated; and implement the decisions of the President in respect of any of those assets and properties. In addition, the Act defines offences.

    This Decree makes provision with respect to the transfer of interests in land. It provides rules relative form and procedure of such transfer and defines the effects of conveyance. The Decree concerns also the recording of oral grant of interest in land under customary law and sets out the content of implied covenants for the transfer of various interests in land, including leasehold.

    The Act provides for the protection of farmers whose titles to land are found to be defective. Titles to land for the purpose of farming acquired after the commencement of this Act shall be deemed extinguished if the land is not used for farming for a period of eight years (sect. 1). Where a farmer has, in good faith, acquired any land by customary law or otherwise in a prescribed area for purposes of farming in the period between 1940 and 1962, such title shall be validated notwithstanding any defect in the title (sects. 2-1).     The Governor may constitute Forest Reserves under section 4.A Notice in this respect shall be published in the Official Gazette. For each Reserve a Reserve Settlement Commissioner shall be appointed. Restrictions are placed on acquisition of rights during an interim period between publication and an Order constituting a Reserve under section 17. The Settlement Commission shall be considered a Court. The Commissioner may exclude land from a Reserve. Section 13 concerns compensation and section 14 concerns extinction of rights.
