An Act to authorise the building of wharves or abutments in the ports and harbours in the Out Islands.
LegislationBahamas, Americas, CaribbeanThis Act concerns permission of the Minister to any residents to build a wharf or abutment, from the private land of such person or persons which may abut on to the port or harbour of the district in which the application is made, into such port or harbour. A plan for an abutment or wharf shall be submitted to the Minister. The Minister may order inspections and issue a notice if an abutment or wharf is not in a proper condition or is likely to impede or interfere with the navigation of the port or harbour.

These Regulations prescribe that any compensation agreed or awarded for land of which possession is taken by the Minister under the authority vested in him by section 8(1) of the Acquisition of Land Act 1970 [title 19 item 2], shall carry interest from the date of entry until compensation is paid or paid into court in accordance with that Act at the rate of 7 percent per annum.

LegislationGuyana, Americas, South AmericaThis Act empowers the Minister to declare any land settlement scheme to be a public work under section 3 of the Acquisition of Land for Public Purposes Act. A land settlement scheme is defined as including any project intended to secure land for the establishment of farmers as an organized settlement or for distribution by sale, lease or otherwise to persons individually for agricultural purposes. The Act further provides for (assessment of) compensation, power to acquire land by lease.
