    The present Agreement outlines the relationships and obligations between the Iniut of the Nunavut Settlement Area and Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada. This Agreement – also referred to as Nunavut Land Claims Agreement - is a land claims agreement between the Inuit of the Nunavut Settlement Area (part of the Northwest Territories) and the Government of Canada subject to the Constitution Act of 1982. The lands are not deemed to be "Lands Reserved for Indians" with respect to the Constitution Act of 1867.

    The purpose of the present Act is to transfer control over Crown lands and natural resources from the federal government to the Province of Alberta. Section 2 of the Act confirms the Agreement set out in the Schedule (Memorandum of Agreement, made on 14 December 1929). Under the present Natural Resources Transfer Agreement (N.R.T.A.) the Government of Canada agrees that provincial laws respecting game shall apply to the Indians within provincial boundaries in order to secure the continuance of the supply of game and fish for the support and subsistence of Indians.

    An Act to provide for the settlement of claims by Indian bands in British Columbia relating to certain lands cut off from their reserves.

    The present Act establishes that a band, or its council, may make agreements with Canada and British Columbia for resolving and extinguishing claims to cut-off lands. It notes that "Negotiations toward such agreements do not constitute an admission by Canada of the existence of any legal obligation of Canada toward the band in question" and that "Any such agreement executed prior to this Act is declared to have effect as of the date of its execution." The text consists of 7 sections.

    The present Act makes provisions for the settlement of differences between the governments of the Dominion of Canada and the Province of British Columbia respecting Indian Lands and certain other Indian Affairs in the afore-mentioned Province.     The present Regulations enforce the Territorial Lands Act (R.S. 1985, c. T-7) and the Federal Real Property and Federal Immovable Act (S.C. 1991, c. 50). In particular the Regulations lays down provisions relating to the administration and disposition of oil and gas belonging to Her Majesty in right of Canada under all lands forming part of Canada but not within any province. Section 3 establishes that these Regulations apply only to Canada lands that are under the control, management and administration of the Minister.
