THE WEST BENGAL PREMISES TENANCY ACT, 1997 [WEST BENGAL ACT XXXVII OF 1997]
[Assent of the President of India was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, Part III, of the 28th December, 1998]
An Act to provide for the regulation of certain incidents of tenancy of premises in Calcutta, Howrah and some other areas in West Bengal.
To provide for the prohibition of unlawful eviction; to provide for procedures for the eviction of unlawful occupiers; and to repeal the Prevention of Illegal Squatting Act, 1951, and other obsolete laws; and to provide for matters incidental thereto.
Regulation made by the Head of State in accordance with the advice of the National Executive Council under the Land Act 1996.
An Act to provide for the tenure, ownership and management of land; to amend and consolidate the law relating to tenure, ownership and management of land; and to provide for other related or incidental matters.
