    This Act concerns “State land”, which means unalienated State land and reacquired State land. Those terms are defined in section 2. The President of Botswana may make and execute grants or other dispositions of any State land or any interest in them. The exercise of such powers may be delegated to a persons authorised by the President by Notice published in the Official Gazette.

    This Act concerns the establishment, recognition, functioning and jurisdiction of Customary Courts and related matters. The Act also provides for the appointment of the Director of Tribal Administration and deputies for the purposes of this Act. Every Chief may submit for the consideration of the Minister recommendations for the recognition, establishment, abolition or variation in jurisdiction of customary courts within his area.

    This Act confirms the full, free and undisturbed possession of Tati Concessions, Ltd. as owners of all the land within the Tati District subject to all the terms and conditions of this Act and in accordance with the present and future legislation. The Company shall have the right to minerals in land and to lease or dispose of land without conditions but Government officials shall have right to cut timber and graze stock upon any portion of land within the Tati District free of charge.

It also defines their jurisdiction in civil and criminal cases and, for certain courts, courts also defines jurisdiction in respect of stock theft.

    This Act makes provision with respect to the protection and conservation of national monuments and protected heritage areas.The Act provides for the appointment of the Commissioner of Monuments and Relics and defines powers of the Minister for purposes of protection and conservation of national monuments and protected heritage areas. The Minister may, after consultation with the Commissioner, enter into a written agreement with the owner of any national monument, recent artefact, recent historic monument or protected heritage area, for its protection or preservation.
