    Shrift towards private ownership in forestry recourses in transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe promotes forest values and their development in diversified ways. In this paper, we provide a general equilibrium model assisting in estimation of forest management practices in the regional level by comparing different ownership structures and public policy measures. The model is applied for the county of Banská Bystrica in Slovakia.

    This paper focuses on the reconstruction of Holocene climatic and environmental changes in two archaeological sites of southwestern and north-central Calabria (southern Italy). It is based on a comparison of geoarchaeological, pedological and pedoanthracological data from soil profiles in the coastal hilly and inland mountainous surroundings of Palmi and Cecita Lake, respectively. At the Palmi site, the representative soil profile includes settlements and artefacts ranging from late Neolithic to late early Bronze Age and undifferentiated historical epochs.

    This paper highlights results of a multidisciplinary and multi-analytical study of Holocene archaeological soils around Cecita Lake (Sila massif, Calabria, southern Italy), which represents a typical upland Mediterranean environment. It is focused on assessment of climatic and environmental changes that took place since late Neolithic to Roman times, trying to discriminate natural from anthropogenic signals.

    This is a Māori/Ngati Porou-led PES scheme that makes use of government afforestation subsidies and foreign direct investment to enable one of the tribe’s commercial bodies, Ngāti Porou Whanui Forests Limited (NPWFL) to become a provider of environmental services by undertaking afforestation activities to mitigate severe soil erosion and its negative effects on the Ngāti Porou community.

The sector analyses are inputs to the design of measures to be financed under the European Union (EU) Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance for Rural Development (IPARD), once available, as well as for the design of the country’s policies interventions in general.
