This Act provides for the designation and management of “development areas”. Under section 2, the Commissioner in Executive Council “may designate as a development area “any area in the Yukon where it is considered necessary in the public interest to regulate the orderly development of such area”.
Historic Resources Act (R.S.Y. 2002, c. 109).
Under section 1, the purpose of this Act is to promote appreciation of the Yukon’s historic resources and to provide for the protection and preservation, the orderly development, and the study and interpretation of those resources. It consists of 85 sections and is divided into 7 Parts. Part 1 creates the Yukon Heritage Resources Board, the Yukon Historical Resources Appeal Board and regulates their operation. Part 2 concerns educational programs and financial assistance and establishes the Yukon Historic Resources Fund.
Land Titles Act (R.S.Y. 2002, c. 130).
This Act concerns titles to land in Yukon, it consists of 193 sections.
Expropriation Act (R.S.Y. 2002, c. 81).
This Act concerns the expropriation of land, which includes “any estate, term, easement, right or interest in, to, over or affecting land” (sec.1). Under section 2, the Minister has the power to expropriate any land he or she deems necessary for public purposes. The Act provides for compensation for disturbance, injurious affection of land or expropriation to be assessed and paid. Section 13 provides for the establishment of a Board of negotiation to solve disputes related to expropriation.
