Em Nampula, no norte de Moçambique, existem duas multinacionais que exploram areias pesadas: a mineradora chinesa Haiyu Mozambique Mining Limitada, que opera na localidade de Sangache, no distrito de Angoche, e a irlandesa Kenmare, que se instalou na localidade de Topuito, no recém-criado distrito de Larde, outrora Moma.
