Uncertainties in the international carbon market make it imperative the UN’s REDD+ framework engages a wider spectrum of the private sector than just international companies and investors. Countries with REDD+ programmes should work with their domestic private sector to provide the missing momentum. Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises are crucial, as these usually dominate in forest- and agriculture-based economies.

Kenya is on the road towards commercial exploitation of the Turkana oil resources. Until now, management of benefits from Kenya‟s natural resources is particularly problematic. This assertion is demonstrated by the fact that such benefits have never trickled down to the local people in a very structured way. The failure has led to calls for the putting into place of ways through which natural resource-based benefits should be shared equitably. Picking a cue from the above experiences, Parliament recently published three relevant and interrelated Bills.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue proponer estrategias de gestión ambiental para la recuperación de la cuenca del embalse Guaremal mediante el desarrollo de sistemas apícolas. Se realizó un relevamiento florístico alrededor de la cuenca tomando en consideración las especies visitadas por las abejas. Se determinaron las especies melíferas más abundantes de la zona en un área mínima de 0,10 ha definida en 7 transectos de 4m de ancho x 50m de largo, distribuidos a lo largo de toda la cuenca.
