The Land Campaign (Campanha Terra), which formally came to an end in November 1999, will re-emerge as a Land Forum. Describes the background to and results of the campaign and the activities in its first and second years, mentions how it was organised, and briefly outlines plans for the future.

Land reform has been a strong part of the overall re-structuring of the Lithuanian economy and it has contributed to the gains in living standard that have been achieved since 1994. Like the other former Soviet states, Lithuania suffered strong declines in agricultural and industrial production following independence.

The authors currently work for the tenure reform group within the South African Department of Land Affairs. Their paper provides an overview of South African land reform policy, its scope (redistribution, restitution, tenure reform), milestones in the institutional development of the Department of Land Affairs, and institutional issues that still have to be resolved.
