This article has the following objectives: 1) to identify the bottlenecks in the cocoa and palm oil value chains in the Ucayali region (Peru), so that their different actors and links can contribute to avoid deforestation, and 2) based on these bottlenecks, to identify the enabling conditions and incentives (from the perspective of the actors in the different links of these value chains), necessary to reduce or avoid deforestation in this Amazon region.

ShiFT research involves identifying and gathering all policy documents that have a potential effect on the different components of Honduras food environment. Policies were identified in priority at the national level, but any specific sub-national policies that are relevant for our SHiFT target sites will be also included.

Peru is promoting the adoption of agroforestry systems with the aim to halt the deforestation of tropical forests caused by smallholder farmers. However, deficient soil conservation practices and nutrient management are common among the targeted smallholders, hampering the success of this strategy. In this study, we explore the potential of valorizing municipal biowaste as compost to be used as soil amendment in coffee agroforestry systems and in silvopastoral systems. The analysis was concentrated in four Peruvian regions and the most populous city in each of them.

The objective of this workshop was to deep dive into a collaborative approach to identifying potential solutions, consider the role of key ecosystem stakeholders including the banks, policy makers and IITA/AICCRA and prioritise wish list items for potential action. The conclusions reached provide a framing and context for next steps of stakeholder engagement in the third and final workshop for this phase of work.

The purpose of this Context Assessment is threefold: first, to characterize the environmental, social and economic and political contexts of the Tunisian ALL; second, to understand the data and information currently available in sub-region of the ALL, and third to characterize the extent to which agroecological principles are already being employed locally at the ALL levels. This report constitutes a basis of information and discussion to conduct the impact assessment.
