The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan faces a plethora of climate challenges, from rising temperatures to drought and desertification, exacerbating issues of water scarcity. Concurrently, the country is home to an expanse of social protection and humanitarian assistance programs, varying in delivery modality and responsible actors.

Although livelihoods within agrifood systems (AFS) are generally vulnerable to the impacts of climate
change, women bear a disproportionate burden from rising climatic stressors. In agrarian regions in
the Global South, women face unique and intersectional vulnerabilities that limit their voice in
governance and decision-making processes. This, in turn, impedes their ability to participate in and

Through action research across six anchored countries in Africa, AICCRA aims at scaling access and use of enhanced climate information services (CIS) and evidence-based climate-smart agriculture (CSA) technologies and innovations for effective climate risk management and sustainable productivity improvement in various agricultural value chains and sub-sectors.

The mid-hills of Nepal account for 68% of the country’s total area[1] and 56% of its arable land. Ranging in altitude from 610m to 4,876m, there are many small pockets of micro-irrigation that have the potential for high-value crop cultivation. However, almost a third of irrigable land here remains rainfed[2] and studies indicate an increase in fallow land due to a lack of year-round irrigation infrastructure and decrease in agricultural workforce.

Egypt’s Haya Karima (HK) Initiative aims at improving the quality of life in the country’s rural communities through interventions related to human development, infrastructure, and economic sectors. This presidential initiative, whose name translates to “Decent Life” in English, has four strategic goals, all targeting Egypt’s rural population: building human capital, improving quality of life, improving the standard of living for the most vulnerable, and providing decent and productive job opportunities.

Covering 41% of Earth's land, drylands are home to nearly 2 billion people relying on forests, rangelands, and agrosilvopastoral systems for survival. These areas provide crucial environmental services, supporting biodiversity, preventing erosion, averting land degradation, enhancing water infiltration, and boosting soil fertility. Amid global change, they serve as resilient landscapes and communities.
