Compensation for land expropriation due to development projects such as mining is shifting from cash to physical assets like housing. Therefore, empirical studies are required to assess the residential satisfaction of project-affected families (PAFs) living in these houses and the factors which can enhance their satisfaction and quality of life in the long term.

In Italy, an increasing number of historical buildings have been abandoned in the last decades. As a response, some local administrations decided to foster renovation projects to preserve their heritage for future generations.

(1) Background: Dianchi Lake is the largest freshwater plateau lake in southwest China. Since the 1970s, with the large-scale lake reclamation and rapid urbanization, the land use/cover of the Dianchi Basin has changed dramatically, directly hindering the sustainable development of the watershed.

Land policies are commonly used to contribute to the implementation of the public policy of land-use planning (or spatial planning). In this sense, a spatially efficient land policy must allow the planning systems to achieve the land uses promoted by strategic planning. In addition to their role in land-use planning, land policies also contribute to public finance policies.
