En Côte d’Ivoire post-coloniale, de nombreux projets de développement ont été mis en place dans le cadre de l’aménagement du territoire, dont l’Autorité pour l’Aménagement de la Vallée du Bandama (AVB). Il a contribué à l’augmentation de la production énergétique nationale et au développement de la pêche. Mais, ce projet de grande envergure a contraint les villages riverains à un déplacement forcé. Les populations ont reçu en retour la construction d’habitats modernes et des lopins de terre négociés auprès de villages d’accueil.
