Regional Law No. 35-ZKO “On maximum land plot area that can be allotted to regional residents”.

This Regional Law establishes minimum and maximum land areas of public and municipal land to be allotted to regional residents in ownership for farming, gardening, horticulture, stockbreeding and suburban housing construction. It shall not be applicable to agricultural land and it shall not be applicable to purchase of land in ownership by citizens.

This Regional Law shall be aimed at the development of land relations and improvement of the mechanism of state regulation of payment of land charges. It establishes that the amount of payment for agricultural land allotted to agricultural enterprises, peasant farms, cooperatives and subsistence farms for agricultural production shall not exceed the amount of taxes applicable to land parcels allotted on lease.

The law brings forth the Code of compulsory acquisition (expropriation) of immovable property. It consists of two articles (ratification of the Code and entry into force). The Code sets out: the rules and conditions under which the Government may expropriate a person's ownership or other rights in or to immovable property for public purposes (Chapter A, art. 1-6); the procedures governing the conduct of the act of expropriation(Chapter B, art. 7-10); the conditions for cancellation or revocation of compulsory acquisition (Chapter C, art.

Regional Law No. 8-ZKO “On turnover of agricultural land”.

This Regional Law regulates turnover of agricultural land with a view of conservation of precious productive agricultural land. It establishes minimum agricultural land areas resulting from land consolidation for open land - 1 ha, for areas under glass - 0,05 ha. Minimum agricultural land area for drained and irrigated agricultural land shall not be less than 100 ha. Maximum agricultural land area that can be owned by a single natural or legal person within the boundaries of a single municipal unit shall not exceed 10 percent of total available agricultural land area.

Law No. 2985 adapting to the Greek Constitution the provisions of the Code on expropriation of immovable property.

The first article of the present law brings forth amendments throughout the text of the Code on expropriation of immovable property in order to comply with the provisions of the Greek Constitution. In particular, a new article (article 7a) is added to the Code, dealing with the procedures governing the conduct of the act of expropriation. The second and last article sets out the entry into force of such amendments.
