Location

The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

This Law provides for the leasing of public agricultural and forest land. It consists of 18 articles establishing the procedures for leasing of such lands to citizens and contains rules relative to the lease and the conditions attached to lease including obligations of the lessee. 'Land' here means the land that is property of the State, classified in the fond of agriculture and forest land, pastures and meadows (art. 2).

This Law shall regulate protection and state management of protection of immovable cultural properties, located within the territory and territorial waters of the Republic of Lithuania, and according to right of ownership, belonging to the state, local governments, religious organizations and other legal and natural persons. Immovable cultural property means structures of cultural and public significance, their parts and groups, complexes, clusters and sites, which shall be registered according to the procedure prescribed by this Law.

Legislation

This Act is a comprehensive framework for the development, planning and management of the artificial environment. The Act is divided into eleven chapters and 206 articles. The Ministry of Territorial Development and Construction shall administer and control the activities falling under this Act, such as urban planning, construction and public works. The municipalities shall be the local authorities responsible for these matters. Territorial development plans are regulated in Chapter Two.
